主讲内容:
This study uses industry level data to examine allocation of labor relative to capital and infrastructure investment for 27 manufacturing industries of the Chinese economy. Analyses at the industry level allow for examining the pervasiveness of resource misallocation in the manufacturing sector, as well as revealing which industries are using inputs in an allocatively efficient manner. A translog cost equation for each of the 27 manufacturing industries classified at the two-digit industry code level for the 1998-2005 sample period is estimated to calculate input price distortion measures. Findings suggest underemployment of labor relative to investment in capital and infrastructure in the majority of the industries and results also show the following manufacturing industries achieved allocative efficiency.
