About Us 　 　 The Center for Studies of Hong Kong, Macao and Pearl River Delta (CSHKMPRD, hereinafter called ‘the Center’), Zhongshan (Sun Yat-Sen University), is one of the 100 key Humanities and Social Science Research Bases approved by the Ministry of Education. The Center is specialized in the studies of regional economy, laws, politics, cultural education and society of Hong Kong (HK), Macao and the Pearl River Delta (PRD). The studies involve economics, politics, public administration, laws, sociology, human geography and education. In 2004, the Center became one of the innovative bases of the second stage of ‘Project 985’ in philosophy and social science, the research center for Hong Kong and Macao, Zhongshan University. The multidisciplinary advantage in human science and social science of the University is helpful to develop the centre, and the Center has pushed the frontier of related research fields through its scientific research platform and research projects. 　 　 Under the guidance of the Ministry on the construction of key research bases of human and social science and the requirements of Project‘985’, the Center, has worked continuously to deepen the reform of scientific research system and built up an operating mechanism of open organization, free movement of faculty, internal and external cooperation, competition innovation and integration of learning, production and research on purpose to be a center of scientific research, talent education, academic communication, information & data and counseling in HK, Macao & PRD. It also plays an important role as a ‘thought database’, an ‘information database’ and a ‘talent base’ in its research field.
